Recently my senses have been simply inspired by:
sight : seeing and sorting the images of Ganesha for my last post, reminded me gently that I need to focus on the momentum of my home practice; especially when I have unusual weeks with no class. The yoga flow is an important part of my ritual as it helps me to find balance, joy and peace within.
sound : re-listening and re-enjoying the re-laxing sounds of Healing Sounds Music (thank you soulsister A. for the sound gift, such a soulful addition to my healing music library).
taste : a teaspoon and a tub of Mövenpick Masala Chai ice cream creates tiny taste explosions in my mouth. Yummy!
smell : the lavender on my balcony is finally starting to bloom, yet the neighbourhood lavender bushes have a big head start. The butterflies are in heaven. So am I. With each whiff comes the constant reminder of calmness and relaxation. It is such a useful healing herb to have around. This beautiful lavender post by Tammy is an inspiration. All I wanted to do was walk right into her photographs and take a deep long breath…
touch : the time has come to say farewell to my old yoga mat, which has travelled well with me over the years. I am getting in touch with my new Jade Yoga travel mat. It feels great beneath my hands, feet and me; and they planted a tree because I bought one. So happy to give back.
energy : let’s share the energy of #iampeace and make a difference by joining this global meditation for peace on 8 August 2014 12pm EST led by Deepak Chopra. I have already signed up, join us?
last words : this quote serendipitously crossed my path again during a course I am taking. I remember how my soulsister L. originally introduced me to it during our shiatsu course many moons ago. It is one of my favourites so I want to share the light forward.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” – Marianne Williamson (A Return to Love)
